The Global Indian Stars 2010 (previously called Global Indian Idol) has established itself as the leading singing talent hunt among youth in Singapore and is the ultimate platform in Singapore for budding singers to realise their dreams. The competition is now open to all singing talents in Singapore. It will bring on stage versatile and talented performers with a wide range of capabilities from semi - classical songs to Bollywood’s latest numbers.

Global Indian Stars 2010 will identify budding singing talent, offer them an opportunity to showcase their skills and bring together singing sensations from all over Singapore, inculcating a feeling of musical unity in them. For the young singers, it will be a chance to test their musical prowess and gain confidence for further learning.

Participants can sing any song of their choice in any Indian language for both the Junior and Senior category.
The participants should prepare the mukhda and one antara of the song and sing with or without track. Participants singing without track will not be provided any accompaniment. The track CD should be in MP3 or wave formats only. (If there is any problem in running the CD, for any reason, the participants will be required to sing without accompaniment.)

Photo copy of NRIC or Passport will need to be submitted on the day of Audition

Participants selected for further auditions will be informed by e-mail on Monday, 19th July, 2010

Selected candidates (for both Junior and senior category) must submit track CD to the contact person at GIIS East Coast latest by 21st July 2010. All track CDs must be in MP3 or Wave format only.

General Rules
  • Each participant will sing the mukhda and one antara only.
  • All participants must sing with a Karaoke track for all the rounds. Live musicians, musical instruments or supportive instruments will not be allowed.
  • The participant can alter the pitch of the song to suit their voice in all the rounds.
  • The track CD and back up copy of the CD must be submitted to the contact person according to the following schedule.
    Participants are requested to carry an additional copy of the CD of the same track/s on the day of the auditions as well. Participants must write their full name, song name and track number on the CD itself with a permanent marker (not on the cover).
  • There will be a panel of three judges for all the three rounds. Their decisions will be final and binding.
  • For any queries, comments or withdrawal, the participants are requested to communicate with the contact person only.
  • Only the event coordinators will be permitted to communicate directly with the judges. The participants, their parents, friends or family are requested to refrain from doing so personally. They may give their feedback and requests to the event coordinators who will then pass them on the judges.
  • Dress code – Any type of dress suitable to the song.
Criteria for Judgement
  1. There shall be a panel of three music teachers (one from each campus) for the auditions of external participants on 17th July' 10.
  2. There shall be a panel of three external judges for all the three rounds-Quarterfinals, Semi finals and finals.
  3. One special guest shall be invited to join the panel for the Finals on 12th August' 10.
  4. The criteria of judgment shall be based on Rhythm, Voice modulation, tone, voice quality and overall presentation.
  5. The selection of the participant shall be based on overall scoring of marks. The marks given by each judge shall be totalled and the highest scoring participants shall be selected for the next round.
  6. In case of tie, both the participants shall be selected for the next round.
  7. The decision of the judges shall be final and binding.

Bollywood Song from 1960 to 1980 – Mukhda and Antra with track.

For Rhythm change, Participants should first sing the mukhda and antra on the original rhythm with live musicians, who will then change the rhythm of the same song. The participants have to catch the beat and sing only the mukhda again according to the new beat on the spot.

Latest hit - full song. Any movie song in Hindi, Tamil, English or any regional Indian language.
