Government of Mauritius invites GIIS to open a school in Mauritius

 

 

Responding to the request made by Government of Mauritius to open a school in Mauritius, the Global Indian Education Foundation signed an MOU to open a Global Indian International School in Mauritius. The school will open in 2008 and offer Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and International Baccalaureate education along with Indian values and culture.

Witnessing the MOU Signing ceremony were H.E. Mr. Valayar Ravi, India’s Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs, Hon, Kailash Purryag, Speaker, National Assembly of Mauritius, Hon Basant Banwaree, Minister of Labour, Govt of Mauritius. Signing the MOU were Mr. Mahendra Utchana, Former Minister of Tourism of Govt. of Mauritius and Mr. Atul Temurnikar, Chairman, GIEF.

Mr. Mahendra Utchana, President of GOPIO International, said “This was GOPIO’s initiative of bringing in world class Indian education to Mauritius.”

H.E Vayalar Ravi said “This was a good initiative by GIEF foundation to help the Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) in Mauritius.”

 

Prof. Dato’ Mariamuthu of Malaysia highlighted how the GIIS Malaysia had emerged as a successful school serving the NRI and PIO community in Malaysia and offering top quality education, and GIIS Mauritius will extend similar benefits to Mauritian children.

 

Mauritius Calling…..

 

Mauritius, is situated in the south-west of the Indian Ocean about 800 km east of  Madagascar. Together with Réunion and Rodrigues it belongs to the Mascarene Islands. It has an area of 1.865 km ² and is densely populated with approx. 1.074 m. inhabitants.

Mauritius has become a society of different races, cultures and religions through its immigration. People of African, Indian, European and Chinese origins cohabit with various cultures, customs, languages peacefully and harmonically on narrow land. Mauritius is an example for other societies of the world.

Its natural spendour has made the country indispensable for tourists and globe trotters. The past and present blend here, making time to stand still. Flora and Founa abound, adding to nature’s many bounties. Behind the harmonious façade, howeve, Mauritius is today a bustling commercial centre as well. Highly rated by international economic and financial agencies, Mauritius boasts of high reputation, strong economy, political stability, experienced professionals and guratanteed business confidentiality.  It has thriving wellness, marine, banking and insurance industries.
