Global Schools Foundation (GSF) and Global Indian International Schools (GIIS) convey their heartiest congratulations to cricket maestro, Sachin Tendulkar, on scoring his 100th ton in One-Day International (ODI) cricket against Bangladesh in the fourth match of Asia Cup 2012, played on 16 March 2012. GIIS salutes the spirit of true sportsmanship, determination and hard work, one that has been exemplified by Sachin Tendulkar.

This feat marks his name in the history of cricket as the first batsman ever to achieve this accomplishment; celebrated by Indians world over and acclaimed by the international cricket fraternity. "Enjoy the game and chase your dreams. Dreams do come true", said Sachin after scoring his 100th ODI century.

For GIIS students, the memory of the Master Blaster's visit to GIIS' Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) campus on 18 September 2006, along with five other members of the Indian Cricket Team, will be cherished for a long time to come. Their visited coincided with GSF's Foundation Day that year. "A beautiful campus!" remarked Sachin as he drove into the school premises.

Mr Chandu Borde, Vice President, GSF, hosted the Indian team and expressed that their visit to GIIS will go a long way in boosting the development of national-level players from GIIS Schools, who could go on to represent their countries in national and international cricket tournaments. Sachin, along with the Indian Team, appreciated GIIS' efforts in encouraging cricket, especially in non-cricket playing countries.

GIIS' Gold Squad Programme has been designed to search for and hone sporting talent amongst students in five merit sports, including cricket. Students selected for the programme undergo intensive training under the able guidance of our proficient coaches, which is imparted at no extra cost. A recent achievement of this programme was the selection of six (6) boys from GIIS East Coast Campus (Singapore) for Singapore's National U-13 cricket team.
